Nature engineered by intelligence.

We turn organic side streams into high-quality biological ingredients for nutrition and agriculture.

How it works

Bioconversion, mastered.

From our own genetics in Mol to controlled bioconversion in Mouscron, organic side streams become protein, oils and a natural soil improver.

Ice and rock, close up

Innovation

From ingredients to advanced biomaterials.

Oils, chitin and bioactive compounds open the way to premium nutrition, cosmetics, agriculture and, in the long term, health.

These applications are in research or development. They are not currently commercial products of Profinity.

About us

One group, the full biology.

Profinity is a Belgian bioconversion group that controls the full process, from its own genetics to finished ingredients.

Our story

Two complementary companies, one conviction.

Profinity brings together two complementary Belgian companies that share one conviction: that nature's most efficient bioconversion process deserves the precision of modern biotechnology.

EntoQ, founded in Mol, built deep expertise in genetics and breeding. WasTech, founded in Mouscron, specialised in bioconversion and processing. By joining forces in Profinity, we now master the full process, from the first generation of our strains to the finished ingredient.

Our ambition is to build a European group that turns organic resources into ever more valuable products: high-quality ingredients today, advanced biomaterials tomorrow.

Mission & vision

Why we exist, and where we are heading.

Mission

We turn organic side streams into high-quality biological ingredients by mastering the biology of bioconversion, from genetics to finished product.

Vision

A European bioconversion group that climbs the value ladder: from protein, oils and soil improvers today to functional ingredients and advanced biomaterials tomorrow.

Our group

Genetics at the centre, bioconversion at the edge.

Profinity is a Belgian bioconversion group that turns organic side streams from the agri-food chain into high-quality biological ingredients. The group combines two complementary companies that together control the full biological process, from genetics to finished product. Profinity serves customers in pet food, animal nutrition and agriculture, and is building towards higher-value applications in biomaterials, nutraceuticals and cosmetics.

EntoQ

A Profinity company

EntoQ, a full subsidiary of the Profinity group, is the genetics and breeding company of the group. From its site in Mol, EntoQ runs a selective-breeding programme and a specialised hatchery producing high-quality neonates, the young larvae that start the bioconversion process. It supplies both the group's own bioconversion operations and partner sites across Europe.

WasTech

A Profinity company

WasTech, a full subsidiary of the Profinity group, operates the group's bioconversion and processing site in Mouscron. WasTech sources organic side streams from agri-food partners and converts them, through a controlled biological process, into fresh and dried larvae, protein meal, oil and natural soil improver for customers in animal nutrition, pet food and agriculture.

How it works

From organic resource to high-value ingredient.

Our process combines the efficiency of nature with the precision of modern biotechnology. Every step is monitored, documented and designed for consistent quality.

Our process

Five steps, from genetics to delivery.

At the heart of our process is the larva of the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens), one of nature's most efficient bioconverters. We control every stage of its life cycle.

Genetics

EntoQ · Mol

A selective-breeding programme improves our strains generation after generation for vitality, growth, conversion efficiency and consistency.

Hatchery & neonates

EntoQ · Mol

Eggs hatch into neonates, 1-day-old larvae. Our proprietary methods, including automated dosing, deliver precise and consistent batches.

Bioconversion

WasTech · Mouscron

Neonates are placed on carefully composed feed made from organic side streams. Over about two weeks they convert it into protein- and fat-rich biomass.

Processing

WasTech · Mouscron

The larvae are supplied fresh, gently dried, or processed into protein meal and oil. The residual frass becomes a natural soil improver.

Quality & delivery

Every batch

Every batch is analysed and documented. We apply HACCP principles and work to the standards of the Belgian food-safety authorities.

Protein, oil and frass: every fraction of the process is valorised.

Genetics

Our biology is our know-how.

Everything starts with the right biology. At our site in Mol, EntoQ selects the best-performing parents generation after generation. It is the same principle as in plant seeds or animal breeding, with no genetic modification.

Adult flies live and reproduce in climate-controlled chambers, and their eggs are collected under controlled conditions. Consistent genetics mean a consistent starting material, and consistent ingredients at the end.

Our model

We bring the biology to the resource.

Most large players in our field built giant central factories and transported organic material over long distances to them. We follow a different logic.

A central hatchery supplies neonates to bioconversion units located close to where organic side streams are generated. The model is leaner, more resilient and replicable in new locations, by us or by partners using our genetics.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What exactly does Profinity do?
We run a natural bioconversion process that turns organic side streams from the food chain into high-quality protein, oils and natural soil improvers for pet food, animal nutrition and agriculture.
Which organism do you use?
Our process is based on the larva of the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens), one of nature’s most efficient bioconverters. We breed our own genetics and control every stage of its life cycle.
Is the black soldier fly a pest?
No. The adult black soldier fly is not a pest; it does not bite or sting and is not known to transmit diseases. Our production takes place in closed, controlled environments.
What do you use as raw material?
Selected organic side streams from the agri-food chain, such as surplus fruit and vegetables, that meet strict EU requirements for use in our process.
Are your products safe?
Our products are produced in controlled conditions under EU rules for feed and animal by-products, analysed batch by batch and fully traceable from genetics to delivery.
Can your products be used in food for humans?
No. Our products are intended for pet food, animal feed and agriculture. We do not produce food for human consumption.
In which animal feed can your protein be used?
Under EU rules, processed protein from our process can be used in pet food and in feed for aquaculture, poultry and pigs.
Where are you located?
Our registered office is in Brussels. We operate two sites: our genetics and hatchery site in Mol and our bioconversion and processing site in Mouscron, Belgium.
Can I become a partner site or a side-stream partner?
Yes, we work with selected partners. Please contact us through the contact form and our team will get back to you.
Do you sell chitosan or pharmaceutical products?
Not at this stage. Chitin, chitosan and their derivatives are part of our research and development programme.
